Love, Joy, Peace...

In the glow of the empty tomb, the Psalms become songs of freedom—giving melody to a new kind of life made possible by the resurrection. They are redemption songs—poetic witnesses to God’s enduring faithfulness, compassion, and renewal. They carry the tension of lament and praise, yearning and fulfillment, weariness and wonder. These ancient songs don’t just remember past deliverance; they proclaim a better future breaking in. We are to be more than readers, but singers joining the chorus of the redeemed.
Focusing exclusively on the psalm readings for the Easter season, the series seeks to uncover how each Psalm sings of hope rising among the ruins, of a world being remade, and of people learning to trust joy again. Rather than naïve praises, they are hard-won hallelujahs, grounded in suffering and resurrected in love.

April 12th: We start a new sermon series called Redemption Songs this Sunday. When resurrection dawns on the weary, songs of hope announce the arrival of a better story, a better life, a new creation. As we focus on Psalm 16 we find God as refuge and steady joy, as we trust in God our guiding Light that guides us. What are the lights guiding you home?

May 3: We continue our Redemption Songs Sermon Series this Sunday, with the Beatles' “Let It Be” and Psalm 31, as we trust in God rather than worry and anxiety. Psalm 31 speaks to the human impulse to cling tightly in crisis. But it also invites us into a better posture: open hands, Open hearts. Such openness is an act of hope, not hopelessness.

May 10: We find this Sunday that Psalm 66 is a communal testimony, a shout of collective deliverance, grounded in memory. How can our body of Christ bear witness to resurrection hope beyond the walls of the building? As we continue our Redemption Songs Sermon Series with “Rise Up” by Andra Day.

May 17: We conclude our Redemption Songs Sermon Series with Ascension Sunday, Psalm 47 & 68 using the songs “Higher Love and Glory” Where are we being sent now that Christ has ascended and sent us in his name?
